How to Get MORE LIKES on Instagram in 2020 (NO BOTS and NO FAKE LIKES!)

Hey everyone, welcome back! In today’s video and article, I’m going to talk about how to get more likes on Instagram in 2020.

Be sure to watch until the end because getting more likes can help you increase your engagement levels, even if Instagram has already started hiding likes in some countries. When you have higher levels of engagement, you will be able to gain more Instagram followers organically.

Most people are so focused on the number of followers that they have, however, we need to focus more on the amount of engagement received, especially ever since the algorithm change in 2019.

As I’ve mentioned many times in my others videos, Instagram prioritizes posts which receives higher levels of engagement. So while having lots of followers helps with your social proof and enables you to be seen as an authoritative figure in your niche, it is actually more important to have higher levels of engagement.

If you have lots of followers but you have very low levels of engagement such as very few likes and comments, it’s not really going to help your post perform well or be shown to more people because that’s just how the Instagram algorithm works.

The Instagram algorithm isn’t going to show your post to more people because you have lots of followers, but they are more likely to show your content to more people when the algorithm detects that your content is receiving high levels of engagement and performing well.

Tip One: Model Success

First of all, you can increase the number of likes on your post by modelling success. This means that before you even upload your post, you are going to browse through the Instagram explore page to see what kind of post is proven to receive high levels of likes and comments.

You don’t want to focus on likes alone, because other forms of engagement are also being measured such as comments, saves and shares. As long as we focus on these engagement metrics, we won’t go wrong. So once you have found examples of posts that are proven to receive high levels of engagement, you are going to create your own version of it.

Tip 2: Add a Call-to-action

Secondly, we are going to make sure that the caption of your post has a call-to-action to encourage users to like and comment on your post if they agree, to boost your engagement levels. Sometimes people need to be prompted to take action if not, they might just scroll past to view the next post on their feed.

Tip 3: Cross-promote Your Post

Next, cross-promote your post on your Instagram story. Usually, I will share the new post on my feed to my Instagram story and use some stickers to notify my followers that I have a new post.

I don’t only notify them, but I also tease them by using the sticker to cover up some parts of the image so that they can’t view the entire image in my story unless they tap on it and get redirect to the original post on my feed. Last of all, don’t forget to add the “tap here” sticker so that users know that they can tap on the image and be redirected to your post as some of them might not be aware of this feature.

The more people you get to view your post, the more you will be able to get more likes and comments.

Tip 4: Use Relevant Hashtags

Next, be sure to use relevant hashtags so that you can be found by targeted users who are not following you. Hashtags should never be underestimated as it can help you be found on the Instagram explore page, and help you be seen by a large amount of people, especially if it appears under the “top posts” category.

Focus on long-tail hashtags that are relevant, so that you are attracted the right audience and not just a general audience of random people who might not be interested in your content. This is very essential especially if you are building a personal brand or using Instagram for your business.

Tip 5: Use Location Tags

Next, add location tags as these can help you be found by people who are doing a search within the region, especially if you are running a local business.

If you have not noticed, posts with location tags receive more likes and higher engagement levels because more people are able to view those posts.

All you need to do is tap on “add location” so that your post will show up whenever someone does a location search.
